2025 Coach

director of recruiting

Allison Shields is a UVA lacrosse alum and is now an enthusiastic coach and teacher. She is originally from Phoenix, MD and has had a lacrosse stick in her hand since she was about 4 or 5 years old. She was a multisport athlete growing up and played varsity soccer and lacrosse in high school at Notre Dame Prep in Towson, MD. Most notably Allison played in the IAAM conference, one of the most competitive in the Baltimore area, and helped lead her team to several conference finals. She also was a part of the club lacrosse system in Baltimore, playing for TLC from 2008 to 2015.

After highschool and a rigorous recruiting process, Allison found herself a home at UVA for 4 years, finishing her undergrad in 2019. On the team, she was a defender and leader in ground balls and caused turnovers, making the All-ACC Academic Team and IWLCA All-South Region her senior year. During her college career Allison helped CavLax run seasonal clinics as well as coached younger teams in the summer.

Allison finished her Master's degree in 2020 in Elementary Ed in the Curry School of Education, and is now entering her second year as a 3rd grade classroom teacher in Charlottesville City Schools. She received a Golden Apple Award for excellence in teaching in 2021 and now coaches the 2028/2029 CavLax team.

Lacrosse has always been a love of hers, and she is so excited to take on this new role and opportunity with CavLax and share this passion with your daughters!
